“Solara” by Zoe Karibian

In a fractured post-apocalyptic world where clean water means power, 19-year-old healer Solara's life is upended when her mother mysteriously disappears after meeting a royal heir. As Solara's rare healing gifts awaken, she uncovers deadly political secrets tied to a hidden water source-and must decide whether to control her growing power or unleash it to overthrow the ruthless elite controlling her world.

The Backstory

It began as a simple English assignment in 7th grade: a one-page science fiction story. I couldn’t stop. Over the next three years, I wrote and rewrote parts of the novel, never finding the time to fully focus on it but always inspired by the world I had created.

In the summer of 2023, I finally sat down and wrote seven pages a day, guided by Barbara Kreiger, Chair of Creative Writing at Dartmouth University.

Solara is set to be published on December 19, 2025.
